Celtic Festival

We were assigned Church clean-up duty so my kids were dressed for that when we spotted the Celtic festival next door...
Kelsey loves the pony ride
Collin stayed in the petting zoo for about an hour...
He especially liked the ducks and chicks and of course wants one now... maybe if they didn't grow to be chickens - hmmm. I wonder what my neighbors would think of that one
Collin had fun talking to the 'guys' and trying out all the stuff... I'm so used to going to all the Latin American stuff with my blond little gringo it was kind of fun to go to the Celtic festival -- with names like Collin & Kelsey we actually fit right in.
K tries her hand at being a black smith
They tried out the tent, played some of the games, the bed and I think Kelsey even tried some of their stale bread before I could stop her - yuck
They met this fun, crazy, lady who taught about herbs and games from the era. She even had a couple of catapults that she would use to shoot beans at her fellow costumed workers (I'm sure they loved that - though at this point they pretty much just ignored her :)

Cinco de Mayo

I was thinking that on the Cinco de Mayo we should be out partying somewhere...
Collin has been involved with the Ballet Folklorico at school again this year. Most of them stop in November after the school performance but Collin's group continued and learned 3 new dances. They practice every Thursday after school. They were asked to participate in this churches fund raiser for Cnco de Mayo.
They really do a great job! (Only 2 more performances this year...)

Slip & Slide

As Kelsey would say, "It's a beautiful day out today!" We got the slip and slide out for the official start of summer...
We are lucky to have the only "hill" on our block...
Kelsey just uses it as a slide - she'll even run up, like the other kids, then sit down and push herself with her hands
Collin & Kelsey on the boogy board
Collin got a little daring...
but luckily didn't kill himself. I was there to nix some of the more "creative" ideas he and his friend came up with...

Addie's Baptism

Addie's parents and god-parents at her baptism
The cousins
Normally I would have about 20 pictures for every family event but my battery died and I didn't have my spare with me (I felt completely handicapped - I actually had to borrow someone elses camera so I could still take pictures (I need help))
It was a really nice service. I tried to explain to Collin some of the similarites and differnces of a Mormon baptism and a Catholic baptism - still afterwards he rode with Betsey and admitted "I was a little confused..."
